915 Rowers Are Getting Ready for the Championship

When all counted, 915 participants from 33 countries is the latest total of the applications for the fast approaching European Championships in Labe Arena Račice.

The largest contingent are Germans, the most successful federation at the last European Championship on their home turf in Brandenburg (3 gold, 6 silver, 1 bronz medals). They booked 85 seats flying to Prague and will be staying in the Hotel Duo in Prosek, near the highway heading north to Račice, half an hour travel time.

On the other end is Albania with one representant, driving in by car and staying in Regatta in Račice.

And other interesting statistics? Second largest group are British with 80 members, followed by 65 Italians, 62 Polish, 59 Russians, 58 Dutch, 55 French and 53 Romanians.

Then come local Czechs with 40 rowers. It’s well known that Czechs are defending two medals – Ondřej Synek’s bronz and the same metal won by a double scull of Kristýna Fleissnerová-Jitka Antošová.

Greeks, historically most successful country at the European Championships since 2007 with 20 golds, are coming with 19 athletes. Our Slovak brothers booked 8 beds in the Pension Veronica in Račice. And, finally, two rowers is sending the Caucasian country of strongmen, Georgia.
